Welcome to Lagos

The BBC documentary is now on Youtube, HT: Roving Bandit.  Other than the opening sequence, they are largely ignoring the tourist possibilities, the wealth that drew and draws people to the city, and urban vibrancy. The first episode (part 1 below) deals with people living in/around and making a living from the garbage dump. The second takes place in "Lagos's version of Venice ... a slum, built on water, called Makoko." The third addresses government efforts to tear down illegal slums to try to create greater order in the rapidly growing megacity. Video below the fold
