Complaining will make it so

A NY Times article on a study of the sources of professors' liberal bias (hat tip: MR). Rather than asking why professors are liberal, they ask why liberals are more likely to become professors. Among the answers is that conservatives tend to distrust the profession. The article concludes:

To Mr. Gross, accusations by conservatives of bias and student brainwashing are self-defeating. “The irony is that the more conservatives complain about academia’s liberalism,” he said, “the more likely it’s going to remain a bastion of liberalism.”
