A new RCT reveals: over a 3 month period, runners who stretched by reach-and-hold methods had no fewer running injuries than those who did not stretch at all. Not just statistically no fewer: no fewer. The same. The article concludes that if you regularly stretch and enjoy it, keep on doing it anyway because your body is used to it.
