When aid makes things worse

Haiti's cholera epidemic may have been imported from the UN's humanitarian aid workers from Nepal. Apparently the waste water from the UN camp runs right into the Artibonite river, sickening the Haitians living there. The Artibonite is also where most of the rice is grown in Haiti, so what effects will this have as the rice is sold throughout the country?

Update: With Hurricane Tomas approaching the island, the cholera epidemic could get a lot worse as flooding spreads the cholera-infected waste further.
