Out in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rachel was having a bad day and enjoying feeling sorry for herself at the airport (her words: "totally content wallowing in my own complete misery"). Then one of her shoes broke - a happy addition to her mood. Then came the problem:
"a woman who works here ran after me, stopped me, and gave me – GAVE ME – her shoes. Asked nothing in return. I hugged her and she laughed."
